On Tap At Kopellah Speedway In ‘09

The 2009 season at the always exciting ¼
mile Kopellah Speedway in
St. Croix Falls,
Wisconsin
has taken shape and proves to be one of
the most explosive in the track’s
history. Track owner Marguerite Lindblom
is now entering her 10th year
as the track’s owner and has recently
hired
St. Cloud,
Minnesota
resident and FYE Motorsports owner Chris
Stepan as her new Promoter and
Competition Director for 2009 and
beyond. Stepan and Lindblom have
recently been working hard to ensure
that racing fans of all types will enjoy
what the speedway has to offer at some
point in 2009 and the schedule reflects
a large range of events, which all fans
should thoroughly find entertaining.
Fans will see a newly
designed website, a new speedway logo,
new speedway wearing apparel, a spruced
up facility, a restructured purse for
all divisions, an entirely new group of
track personnel, some exciting special
events, including the addition of the
UMSS (Upper Midwest Sprint Series) to
nearly half of the scheduled ’09 events,
and an entirely new attitude as Kopellah
Speedway and it’s new staff plan to make
Friday nights in St Croix Falls, WI the
place to be all summer long!
The first event to
take place at the speedway in 2009 will
be an open practice night on Thursday,
April 23rd from 7pm-10pm for
any and all interested racers. A fee of
$20 per car/driver will be charged as
well as a fee of $10 for any other
individuals entering the pit area. The
grandstands will be open and free of
charge for anyone wanting to check out
the practice session.
Opening Night 2009 is
set to kick off on Friday, April 24th
with the running of WISSOTA sanctioned
Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks ,
Midwest Modifieds plus Kopellah Pure
Stocks and 4 cylinder Hornets as well as
the first of 8 UMSS Sprint Car Series
events of the season at the ¼ mile oval.
The following Friday
night, May 1st will see a
regular night of high-speed racing
action again featuring the Modifieds,
Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest
Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets will
be on tonight’s program. If opening
night, April 24th happens to
be cancelled due to weather, the UMSS
Sprints will be on the card for their
season opener on May 1st as
well.
Friday, May
8th will be an exciting
promotion at Kopellah Speedway. In
addition to a full program of Modifieds,
Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest
Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets, May
8th will be Dollar Beer Night
at the track with a special race for the
UMSS Sprint Cars. All beer will only cost
fans $1 all night long.
Friday, May 15th
will see the first visit by the Northern
Vintage Stock Car Racing Association to
the track along with a full program of
Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks,
Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and
Hornets.
The following Friday,
May 22nd will be Kopellah’s
Memorial Day Weekend Special which will
include UMSS Sprint Cars, plus Modifieds,
Super Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest
Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Hornets on
the card to kick off the Memorial Day
holiday weekend.
Friday, May 29th
will feature another ground pounding
program of Modifieds, Super Stocks,
Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure
Stocks, Hornets, Powder Puff Races and
also will be
Kopellah's first
Kids Night.
The first event in
June will be Friday, June 5th
and will feature the UMSS Sprint Cars
again along with a full-powered show of
Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks,
Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and
Hornets.
Thursday night, June
11th will be Kopellah’s
second open practice night of the
season. Any competitor that is looking
for some extra laps is welcome to come
out and test their machine from
7pm-10pm. A fee of $20 per car/driver
will be charged as well as a fee of $10
for any other individuals entering the
pit area. The grandstands will be open
and free of charge for anyone wanting to
check out the practice session.
The following night,
Friday, June 12th will once
again feature the UMSS Sprint Cars along
with Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street
Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks
and Hornets.
June 19th
will be Kopellah’s Meet The Drivers
Night. This night will feature a full
program of Modifieds, Super Stocks,
Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure
Stocks and Hornets and at intermission,
the drivers will bring their cars out
onto the front stretch and all fans,
young and old, will have the opportunity
to go out onto the track and meet their
favorite drivers and get autographs.
Friday, June 26th
will feature the UMSS Sprint Cars again
along with a full-powered show of
Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks,
Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and
Hornets.
Friday, July 3rd
will be an exciting event at Kopellah as
well, with the Sprint Cars back in
action, plus Midwest Modifieds, Street
Stocks, Pure Stocks and Hornets.
We will also have Mechanics Races. Modifieds and Super Stocks
will have the night off tonight.
Friday, July
10th will
be Back to 50's Night and
final visit by the Northern Vintage
Stock Car Racing Association to the
track along with a full program of Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street Stocks,
Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks and
Hornets.
Thursday night, July
16th will be Kopellah’s third
open practice night of the season. Any
competitor that is looking for some

will feature a jam packed night of
racing featuring Modifieds, Super
Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds,
Pure Stocks and Hornets, plus Mechanics
races for all interested parties after
the races are over.
Friday, July 31st
Friday, will again feature a
wheel-to-wheel night of racing action
with Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street
Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks
and Hornets in action during the Polk
County Fair plus the local media
personalities will be on hand to try
their hand behind the wheel as well.
Friday, August 7th
will feature Dollar Hot Dog Night at
Kopellah. All dogs will be only a buck
all night long as you enjoy racing
action featuring Modifieds, Super
Stocks, Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds,
Pure Stocks and Hornets.
Thursday night,
August 13th will be
Kopellah’s final open practice night of
the season. Any competitor that is
looking for some extra laps is welcome
to come out and test their machine from

this time they will be wingless, along
with Modifieds, Super Stocks, Street
Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure Stocks
and Hornets.
Friday, August 21st
is Kopellah’s second Kids Night and will
feature a jam packed night of racing
featuring Modifieds, Super Stocks,
Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure
Stocks and Hornets, fun for the kids,
plus Powder Puff races for all
interested parties after the races are
over.
Friday, August 28th
will feature Kopellah’s second wingless
Sprint Car special of 2009 plus heated
action by the Modifieds, Super Stocks,
Street Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Pure
Stocks and Hornets on the final Friday
of August.
The final event of
the season at Kopellah will take place
on Friday, September 4th as
the 2009 track champions will be
determined on Season Championship night.
All 6 divisions will be in action for
the final time in ’09 to slug it out to
see who is crowned 2009 track champion!
Fans will also note
that the start time has been moved up to
7:00pm for all racing events, which
means draw cut off and the pit meeting
will be at 6:30pm sharp, with hot laps
to follow at 6:45pm, so the first green
flag can fly at 7:00pm. Ticket prices
will be; $12 for adults (20-54 years
old), Seniors $10 (55 & older), $5 for teens (13-19 years old)
and children 12 and under are absolutely
free every Friday night. Pit passes will
be $25 each night.
